This past weekend, my family and I had the opportunity to stay at an Airbnb in Fort Washington, Maryland. As it was our first time in the town, we explored as much as we could. It’s about an hour away from where we live, therefore, I consider it a staycation.
First staycation. First time in Fort Washington.
Immediately after stepping foot inside The Nelson Manor, our Airbnb, we were blown away. The decor and layout were so funky and fun! It was our first tiny home experience. Our favorite thing was that most of the objects were multifunctional and also eco-friendly. If I got a dollar for every time my boyfriend, Wesley, said “I want a tiny home now! Babe, let’s build a tiny house” I would have left the weekend, being a millionaire. Just to give you an idea of just how much we loved it. *wink*
This is the main level- what you see first thing walking into the place. The couch pulls out
into a bed. There were sheets, a comforter, and pillows inside of the couch as well.
It was nice having the TV with the option to watch Netflix. We are Netflix junkies in
this family! There was even a variety of books and games to toy with! Many options
for those night ins.
The ladder leads to a super cute loft, filled with a couch that pulls out into a bed and a TV.
More bedding and entertainment!
Our host Yolanda and Tarus Nelson were also just as fabulous. To me, this is huge. Having a wonderful place to stay with wonderful people who provide the spot, calls for an overall fantastic experience. Great vibes all around. They provided us with everything we needed, built a relationship with us, and made us feel comfortable. We felt free to be ourselves and truly make ourselves a home. So much so that while we were there, we started planning our trip for next time!
Is this backyard not amazing? Sadly, this was the only picture I took of it. We were way
too excited! There was a fire pit that we took advantage of and three large seating areas.
Our stay included, Riley Blake’s first time in the pool. She loved her Otteroo.
And it doesn’t stop there.
We explored the town of Fort Washington.
This was the perfect little family getaway. Wesley works a lot and when he is home, I am on my laptop working as well. It was nice to finally put work away and genuinely spend time together. Our daughter, Riley Blake, enjoyed herself too. She was all smiles the whole time (unless it was eating time aka the world ending)
Read below to see what we did, and what you can do when you are in Fort Washington, Maryland.
- The National Harbor (pictures below)
- Tanger Outlets- a shopping mall, where we got a little crazy at Carters for Riley Blake.
- Historic Museums
The Harbor is a family orientated place that is filled with shops, restaurants, and rides.
There is a taxi that goes to Alexandria, Virginia. Another amazing area!
Wow. I really do not have any words for this place. It was too delicious!
An amazing staycation that we will definitely be doing again. Next time, I will be sure to get some video footage in for you all! Until then, head over to Airbnb to view The Nelson Manor for yourself, and visit Fort Washington! You will be so glad you did.
